Yagami Ren distinguishes between Style Certificates and Instructor Certificates. Completing a style does not automatically qualify someone to teach it; an additional examination is required to become an instructor. He compares this process to the traditional educational path: elementary school, secondary school, high school, and university. Even after graduating from university, one cannot automatically teach at lower levels without first completing a teaching qualification.
